I was also out there with Len preparing the route. We used bitumen trucks and painted 5m by 25m ticks along the road at approx. 5km intervals. It took ages and we had to wait in camp every few days at the side of the Road, waiting for the truck to go off to the coast possibly Tripoli to refill. Happy times!
